| Bio: | About me- * originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. moved to Colorado in 2000. live in the northwest Denver metro area since 2005. * geography and history major in school * I love Colorado, the Pacific Northwest, Autumn, Halloween, coffee shops and tea houses, the mountains, dark forests, fog, waterfalls, the ocean, rain, cooler weather, rock covered beaches, islands, hidden coves, old coastal towns with lots of history, old sailing ships, and the wanderlust of the pirate life! ;) * For the most part, I really dont care for little kids, and I like being child-free. * My career is in mapping and drafting and have been working in that field since 1997. I have a great new job (since June 2007) working for a utility company, in their Engineering department, creating and updating maps and engineering drawings. * I support political activism for protecting animal rights, the environment, internet freedom, civil rights & liberties, and keeping religious fundamentalist wacko's out of the government. * I am vegetarian **************************** me! Sept. 2006 ![]() ********************************************** ******************************* ![]() ~ watch The Meatrix (and its sequels) to learn about animal factory farms: http://www.themeatrix.com ![]() ******************************* My views on Politics and Religion: * I dont like ORGANIZED RELIGION. I think it has been the cause of way too many problems and conflicts in the last couple thousand years. I also think if religious organizations want to be involved in government, they should be taxed. I think individual spirtuality is much better. * I am a left leaning civil and social Libertarian. The government and religion has no business dictating what individuals can do, as long as it does not harm anyone. There should be absolute freedom of speech and expression. The "War on Drugs" is useless and just promotes more gang violence and more money for the drug dealers and gangs. Natural drugs such as marijauna (I dont smoke it) should be legalized and taxed just like alcohol and tobacco. I think income tax should be abolished, and sales tax should be increased to make up some of the difference. If we are going to heavily tax the citizens, it should at least be the consumers, not the hard-working people that choose not to spend, consume, and waste as much as other people. All people of different races, ethnicities, genders, and sexual orientation should be treated with absolute equality as everyone else. I almost always vote independent candidates and parties (Libertarian, Green Party, etc). It is not a wasted vote... one day we will hopefully have a few more successful options than just Democrats and Republicans. Although I do occasionally vote Democrat (So far, Al Gore is the only potential presidential candidate I like for 2008). I have never voted Republican. When Republicans start acting like they used to a few decades ago (i.e fiscal conservatives and proponents of smaller Federal Government), then I would consider voting for them. But Bush style Neo-Cons that are social conservatives and promote more Federal control over our lives and civil liberties I will never vote for. ~ definition of Civil and Left Libertarian. http://www.answers.com/topic/civil-libertarian http://www.answers.com/topic/left-libertarianism-1 ~ check out this good site that helps protect your cyberspace liberties: Electronic Frontier Foundation - http://www.eff.org/ check out this group that advocates for more government transparency: http://www.sunlightfoundation.com/ ~ Dont like "big business" or "big box" stores? check out this link if you want to know more about culturejamming: http://www.adbusters.org/home/ ************************************************************** Me - hiking near Pikes Peak 2002 ![]() ************************************************************** My Favorites, likes, and dislikes- favorite quote: May all your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous - leading to the most amazing view... where something strange, more beautiful and more full of wonder than your deepest dreams awaits. -Edward Abbey Favorite places in the US and Canada (I have been or I would love to visit): Washington state, Oregon, Alaska, San Francisco, Northern California, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, British Columbia, Vancouver Island, Canadian Rocky Mountains, Quebec City, Montreal, Newfoundland. some foreign places I would really like to travel: Canada, Ireland, Scotland, England, New Zealand, Australia, Switzerland, Bavaria, Austria (and the whole Alps region), Scandanavia (Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark), Czech Republic, Costa Rica, Peru, Egypt, the Amazon Rainforest, various Caribbean islands, Galapagos Islands. some favorite websites: http://www.northernsun.com, http://www.redjellyfish.com, http://www.themeatrix.com, http://www.wildhunt.org/pagan, http://www.adbusters.org, http://www.grist.org, http://www.greenconsumerguide.com, http://www.organicconsumers.org, http://www.peacefulprairie.org, http://www.veganstore.com, http://www.wikipedia, http://www.eff.org, http://www.sunlightfoundation.com/, http://www.stopthesealhunt.com some of my favorite music groups & artists: (mostly goth, electronic, ambient, alternative, and Celtic). But I really hate the crowds, noise, and traffic. *** Dislikes *** shop-aholics; clutter; people who smoke INSIDE; large crowds of people; organized religion; social conservatives; hypocrites; liars; the smell of most perfumes and colognes; people who whine or constantly complain about something, and yet do nothing about it; and people who are unneccesarily defensive. ********************************** beautiful Hannah! begging for holiday tofurkey roast ![]() and in the old backyard ![]() and us on a camping vacation near Rocky Mountain National Park ![]() ******************************* ![]() *********************** ******** | |||||
